How to Respond to Excessive Repair Requests

LANDLORD GUIDE

This APOA guide is general community education for landlords. It is not legal, financial, or tax advice. Please check current state rules and seek qualified advice for your own situation.

Tenants are entitled to repairs, but landlords are responsible for lawful repair obligations, safety, habitability, and the property condition required by law.

For unreasonable requests, respond politely, explain the legal and lease responsibilities, and keep written records.

A calm written process is usually better than emotional argument.
