Topic Background
Where this topic came from
On Saturday 31 May 2026, from 8:00pm to 9:30pm, APOA volunteer Kun invited tax and finance adviser Naijiu to deliver a 1.5 hour online session in the APOA WeChat group.
The webinar covered the 2026 Federal Budget, possible tax reform directions, pension application rules, asset tests, and SMSF questions that many Australian landlords are watching closely.
After the webinar, members continued to raise follow-up questions. APOA created this Topic Centre so articles, FAQ, community discussion and future updates can sit together in one reusable place.
Special thanks to volunteer Ziwu Xian Yibei for preparing the webinar PPT summary, and to Naijiu for the professional sharing and Q&A support.
Related resources include the webinar replay, PPT download for VIP members, follow-up articles, FAQ and selected community discussion.

FAQ
FAQ
Could SMSF become more important after tax reform?
SMSF structures may be relevant for some investors, but they are tightly regulated. The correct answer depends on age, contributions, borrowing rules, retirement goals and advice.

Community Questions
Community Questions
Will existing investment properties lose negative gearing?
APOA will track the final reform details as they become available. Landlords should separate confirmed law from political proposals and seek qualified tax advice for their own structure.
Are shares affected by CGT reform?
CGT rules can apply across different asset classes. This centre focuses on landlord implications, but members should confirm their wider portfolio position with a qualified adviser.
